Approaching #mentalhealthawareness month, I thought I’d share my own struggles recently 🫤

Let’s be honest – it’s easy to look at the glossy images and videos and think everything looks great when the reality is in fact quite different. Being vulnerable isn’t always easy, but I think sometimes we need to be able to say ‘I’m not ok today’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

When I’m facing uncertainty, finding the things that give me certainty is a way I’ve found to help balance my #mentalhealth 💜

Choosing to be visible as your true self requires bravery.

You open yourself up to judgement, criticism, even discrimination. Your vulnerabilities are no longer hidden.

That takes guts, whoever you are – and it’s something every trans person has to navigate, just to live their life.

When I came out in 2018, I knew some doors might close, and they did.

Others opened, but it has certainly made parts of my career harder at time. That’s a reality I’ve had to accept 🫤

Being visible is still scary in many parts of the world. The news coming out of the US right now (on a daily basis) is terrifying – it shows how we cannot take progress for granted.

Standing up for who you are or what you believe in isn’t easy. For some people, it’s not even possible.

This is why we need allies, more than ever.

We need action, not bystanders.
We need everyone to stand up and speak up for trans rights 🙌🏼

Because visibility shouldn’t come at a cost ✊🏼🩵💜🤍
